Robobraille is a service developed by Sensus that lets the user easily convert a document into an alternative accessible format in just 4 steps. It allows the users to automatically convert documents into a range of alternate media (audio: MP3 and Daisy, e-books: EPUB, EPUB3 and Mobi, and digital Braille). Additionally, inaccessible documents such as image-only PDF files, JPG pictures and PowerPoint presentations can be converted into more accessible formats.

Before joining Prosperity4All…

Robobraille was already a fully running service.

Thanks to Prosperity4All…

Robobraille has become an open source third party conversion service so that other developers can integrate this building block within their implementations.

Additionally, the Robobraille service has been broken down to a number of components such as the braille and e-book components.

You can also find a Robobraille Web API within P4A that allows other services to call to the API and have their documents converted.

Within Prosperity4All Sensus and PCF (Unisubs Engine) have been working together to provide an alternate format for presentations that have videos embedded in them. In this sense, Robobraille provides an alternate format for text and image presentations, and the PCF provides crowdsourcing captioning for the videos embedded with their BB.
